Godfrey Mifsud is considered to be one of Malta’s most refined solo and chamber musicians. Starting his musical studies at an early age under Ronnie Debattista he furthered his clarinet studies in UK with British clarinet virtuoso David Campbell while participating in master classes with international soloists including Andrew Marriner, Philippe Cuper and Howard Klug.
After winning various local competitions he made his public debut with the Malta National Orchestra in 1997. In 1999 he was featured as a young artist at the International ClarinetFest held in Ostend Belgium and performed as a guest artist at the Aberystwyth Musicfest. Since then Godfrey has performed as soloist with various orchestras including Orchestre Camerata Con Cor(d)e, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Berne Youth Symphony Orchestra, Christchurch Wind Orchestra in various countries including USA, UK, Italy, France, Tunis, Germany, Finland, Portugal, Belgium and the Czech Republic.
Godfrey Mifsud graduated in Music Education from the University of Malta and Master of Music from Christchurch University in Canterbury, UK majoring in clarinet performance under the mentorship of David Campbell. Following his achievement he was awarded a scholarship by Christchurch University to further his studies through a Doctoral research. Godfrey currently holds the post of clarinet tutor at the Johann Strauss School of Music in Valletta, Malta and is a tutor in Performance Studies at the University of Malta.
