Choir & Organ

With opus numbers now in four figures, Carson Cooman must surely rank as one of the most prolific composers of our age. This double disc presents works from the last few years and there is no shortage of inspiration present here.

All the music draws its inspiration from the late renaissance and baroque. Cooman is keen to point out that these are not intended as pastiche or studies of particular styles, however much one is transported back in time through the ancient forms and harmonies. Perhaps fittingly, therefore, this ‘virtual music is recorded on a virtual pipe organ, with the characterful sounds of the 18th-century Michel Engler organ in Krzeszów, using the Hauptwerk system.
