Tempo Flute

This disc arrives as a complement to the remarkable triple CD recorded in 2008 and 2009 in which these two interpreters have preserved the legacy of Paul Taffanel (A Song without Words, Divine Art DDA21371). This time, we have a compilation of older recordings made between 1992 and 1996 and devoted to the music of the late 19 th and early 20 th centuries; principally French (nine works out of eleven). The title, ‘Beloved Concert Classics’ speaks for itself. Kenneth Smith [former] principal flute of the Philharmonia Orchestra of London and Irish pianist Paul Rhodes deliver a veritable lesson in style, confirmed in their triple CD recorded a dozen years later.
