Northallerton-based Divine Art’s newly launched mid-price historic CD series begins with digitally re-mastered first ever recordings of Sibelius’ fifth and sixth symphonies and the tone poem Tapiola, recorded between 1932-34. Conducted by Robert Kajanus and Georg Schnéevoigt, friends and champions of the composer, they positively sing with the spirit of Finland’s wide open spaces – inevitably a little boomy in places, but at negligible cost to detail.
